Even since they came out....I've never really seen anyone ranting and raving about how good they are.

But there are have been a lot of threads with problems...as there have with Precision too. But undoubtedly there are a LOT more Precisions out there, so you'd expect a higher number of problems.

The guys post is a very long one...in some ways there are some unrealistic expectations and some issues on his part too.
Lets face it...someone allegedly tuning a car and only realise there is a problem after the turbo has dumped so much oil into the engine the MAF wont work anymore ?
I find it impossible to believe there wasnt a huge smoke cloud as a sign of a problem wayyy before that ever happened.
Likewise a 3 year old unit and expecting a refund whether low mileage or not. That's just insane.

Either way, their units sound nice in theory....reality ? not something I'd ever gamble on.
Of course on the flip side....we're only getting one side of the story, the guy even said his Chinese turbo failed in a fairly short time, so who knows, maybe there were underlying problems that caused premature turbo failure of the Comp's too.

Even if forums are the only source of info....where do you ever hear a bad word about BW ? They may be big, but they are totally dependable.

Garrett, Turbonetics and maybe to a lesser degree Precision.

Tried and tested units. Comp just havent proven themselves at any level IMO.
Sounds like it was a 3 year old turbo due to 2.5 years of delays by Comp.

Personally I will never touch a turbo besides garret, borg or precision. Too many small companies show up, do good for a while then make a mess of things before they close their doors.

I prefer OEM spec turbos as well,it just makes me feel confident that the same turbo I'm using is running in some dump truck with a life expectancy of least 500k miles

X10 on the Garrett stuff. They're king when it comes to reliability, not to say they don't break sometimes too. Precision has had their share of horror stories as well, but I've noticed it starting to taper off, or people aren't speaking out loud in the places I listen.

I have twin comp 67/67 oilless. They have about 25k miles on them running 8-12 psi, but I have had to ship them back in basically every year for new seals and repack. They covered the cost for this twice basically giving me a new 1yr guarantee each time. It's been over a year since I sent them in so I'm sure they won't cover it again. I've only gotten about 8-10k miles on them before they need repack. No issues with customer service for me, just the pain of having to take the turbos on and off and send them back in twice. I plan to send them back in and have them converted to oiled if they don't rape me too badly on the deal.

Someone mentioned that they were putting a grease fitting on them now so that you don't have to send them back in. Don't know if that is true or not, but sounds like a good option.

I made the switch from Precision and never have looked back. (They still wont return my wrecked 118mm billet wheel for a paper weight.

Been running a pair of Comp CT6X billet wheel triple BB 91's with Tial stainless housings and they've worked flawlessly making 2Krwhp surviving drag week and still feel new for shaft play.

Joe and Ernie are good if you ever have questions and seem to make stuff right if there happen to be problems.

I would never use a comp turbo they are junk, I seen two friends that used comp turbo an personally seen both turbos fail an I mean big time fail, one turbo exploded while boosting up the road, shrapnel took out all his pipe work, filters an coolers all damaged. Other friend of mine just had his for 5minutes an the turbo started making a bad high pitched noise, took the filter out an seen the wheel hitting the compresser housing.

Seen a oil less comp seize up. Guy had all kinds of problems trying to get it repaired.refunded. Etc. Wanted a reliable turbo for remote mount build.
Ended up using a 800$ tnetics n eBay 300$ scavenge pump in the end like I told him too. Comp turbo lasted like 4 month at best. Close to 3k$ turbo.
The tnetics lasted him over,2years n sold the car running w it installed w the eBay oil pump.:p
He got the comp repaired n ssold it as is.

Same with my two friends, comp turbo did not claim responsible for both turbos, blamed it on no oil supply which there was plenty as the garrett that was on it before had no dramas what so ever. They did not warrant there product, there complete liars an I suggest people to never use there junk turbos. They will tell you that they sell there product world wide an no one has issues with them, what a joke as all it takes is a bit of research to see how junk there turbo is, its all over the internet there complete time bombs.

I see some people in this thread stating they have had good results, and others saying nothing but terrible things.

It's crazy that they can sway that far in either direction (junk or great)

We just finished a street truck 6.0 lq4 s10 with one of their ct43 78/79 tbb turbos. Hopefully we have good results.

I run twin CT43 6767 Billets on my 427 LSx and never had any issues with them, They Worked great for me and mad great power 850rwhp 16 psi throw 4L80e unlocked 3500 Stall on My Truck
