Any feedback on Comp Turbo. Looking at running a pair of their new CT43 67/75. Supposedly rated at 1,100 each.
Sounds like it was a 3 year old turbo due to 2.5 years of delays by Comp.Even since they came out....I've never really seen anyone ranting and raving about how good they are.
But there are have been a lot of threads with problems...as there have with Precision too. But undoubtedly there are a LOT more Precisions out there, so you'd expect a higher number of problems.
The guys post is a very long one...in some ways there are some unrealistic expectations and some issues on his part too.
Lets face it...someone allegedly tuning a car and only realise there is a problem after the turbo has dumped so much oil into the engine the MAF wont work anymore ?
I find it impossible to believe there wasnt a huge smoke cloud as a sign of a problem wayyy before that ever happened.
Likewise a 3 year old unit and expecting a refund whether low mileage or not. That's just insane.
Either way, their units sound nice in theory....reality ? not something I'd ever gamble on.
Of course on the flip side....we're only getting one side of the story, the guy even said his Chinese turbo failed in a fairly short time, so who knows, maybe there were underlying problems that caused premature turbo failure of the Comp's too.
Even if forums are the only source of info....where do you ever hear a bad word about BW ? They may be big, but they are totally dependable.
Garrett, Turbonetics and maybe to a lesser degree Precision.
Tried and tested units. Comp just havent proven themselves at any level IMO.

Personally I will never touch a turbo besides garret, borg or precision. Too many small companies show up, do good for a while then make a mess of things before they close their doors.
Someone mentioned that they were putting a grease fitting on them now so that you don't have to send them back in. Don't know if that is true or not, but sounds like a good option.I have twin comp 67/67 oilless. They have about 25k miles on them running 8-12 psi, but I have had to ship them back in basically every year for new seals and repack. They covered the cost for this twice basically giving me a new 1yr guarantee each time. It's been over a year since I sent them in so I'm sure they won't cover it again. I've only gotten about 8-10k miles on them before they need repack. No issues with customer service for me, just the pain of having to take the turbos on and off and send them back in twice. I plan to send them back in and have them converted to oiled if they don't rape me too badly on the deal.
