my 393w is 13-1 ,super vic intake, 750 demon, solid roller cam .690/691 lift 261/268@.050 ,heads flow 310/246@.650. in my zephyr with me in the car was 3100 lbs, 4.10 gears and 4800 spragless converter c4. on 8.5 tires and bone stock 1979 suspension it ran 10.60s in 1/4@124 mph and 6.60s in 1/8@104 with 1.38 60ft..never had it dyoned

 

i don't think you've got enough compression, or airflow to make 600. you'd need some bigger intake runners, more duration and more squeeze in my honest opinion. should make 530-560 imo. but only timeshlips will tell. with 3000# and 600 hp you should be 10.60 @133ish

I was thinking that would be your choke point... but they flow better than 320 cfm

wow they make 320cfm with 205 runners? i failed to see they were AFR head, my bad OP... you definitely do have the air to support 600, but i think the cam and the SCR will still hold you back a bit.

 

im coming up with 295 cfm for cylinder demand of a 393 at 7000 rpm with that duration. 600 with 393ci at 7000 is 102% VE. I would say its possible.

 

what software are you using to figure that out? id love to have an idea of what my motor could make with regards to CFM etc.

 

In my humble opinion, you will fall short of your 600 hp target. I feel the compression ratio needs to be higher, the camshaft more aggressive, and the carb larger. You didn't mention if the intake has been ported at all. There is room for improvement on the super victor with some time. Keep in mind that the airflow into the engine needs to be calculated through the entire intake tract, not just the head. So many variables that account for making power... I just touched on a few that jumped out at me.

 

id say with regards to air flow he does have the heads to support 600, but i would agree with the SCR and short duration cam. if that thing would run to 7000 or more it could make the power up there but you would need RPM and the carb to support it.

 

Just flowed the intakes on a set of these this am. .600"= 312cfm,.700" =304cfm
So taking off valve lash, and other deflections the 312cfm would be a good number
for head flow.

And I would think the 112lsa was far from optimal as well ..

That's probably 550hp at best but it was a cheap,consistent and lasted well after I sold the car.

 

There's no reason that thing won't make 600.

 

i totally think it would get there, but it would be for sure with a little more carb and a point more compression.
