Question below on previous post for the drag radial got me thinking. I'm planning on running 31x18.5 Hoosier QTPs and was wondering how much room should you leave from the top of the tire to the tub when setting ride hight to allow for tire growth?? And how much room should there be to the front and rear of the quarter panel??
Thanks.

I would say they grow roughly an inch at speed, similar to a typical wrinkle-wall drag slick of that size. As far as front and rear QP clearance, keep in mind that most of the growth will be at the center of the tread area, and the shoulders of the tread will be sucked inward slightly. Also they tend to bunch-up a bit more in the front at the initial hit.

BTW, I just happen to know someone who has a really nice set of these for sale:

Before anyone calls me a dumbass, yes I did a search and found some info on the subject, but just wanted to find more info on this particular tire and set up. They will be on a 14" wide rim and should run out around 145 mph. I have an inch front and back to quarter panel.
Thanks.
