I'm going to a dry sump and front drive distributor setup on my new motor and wondering what the builders out there are using for a distributor hole plug. BBC by the way. MSD has a wet sump drive setup, but I don't need that. They used to have just a plug, but evidently it's not made any more....Suggestions?

I run a 622 bbc with a dry sump and bought a billet plug from MSD.part # 8512.it looks like a complete distributor from the manifold height down.has adj sleeve for different block deck heights. if all else fails, take a old dist cut it down and weld a flange on it so you can bolt it down.
the only thing is that the MSD plug has 2 flanges at the bottom with 2 O-rings,has something to do with oil galley flow? good luck, mike.

I whip up one on the lathe, drill a hole in it and press it in with about .0005-.001 press... typically on the large cam bores it will need a chamfer on the bottom edge to conform to the tunnel. If I had extras I'd send one but I don't have any right now....

On a Big M Dart, Lifters are fed from the front to back...... so a tall freeze plug would work......

I had to make a plug up for one I'm doing and didn't get a chance to tap the hole before lifter bushings were put in.......:-damnit
And the one I made is in the inside cause MR Marcella don't want me using a Stupid Long plug as he put it....LOL:p

Let me know if you're gonna make another on Chris. Deck height on new block will be 10.7" if that matters.

I have thought of just using my current distributor but I hate to kill a good part I can sell, but then again, it's no more money and I already have it...

I asked this question about a Little M once and got no replys. If the lifters are fed from the front and the distributor hole is the last place for oil to go in that lifter galley, can a solid plug be used or does the oil still need to go past the distributor hole? Sorry if I'm 'jackin' a thread here.

Got it handled, a buddy of mine here to run the nationals is going to whip me up one on his lathe...I'm taking a distributor to him to model after.....

Scott, won't it cause a complete loss of oil pressure to leave the distributor hole open? I know the lifters are fed from the front, but I'd think that would create a huge leak path if it's not.....Won't be running a dart block though, getting a Brodix.
