Systems check, Warm up, Systems check, hook up the charger, check tire psi., race.
Is that just off the trailer or before every pass?

I usually unload, park the car, hood off, get tech'd whatever, then do a "nuts and bolts" check of the car, put it on the charger. Then before the pass, check fuel, add ice to the ice tank, check tire pressure, then drive to the lanes. Should I do engine and drivetrain warm-ups before each pass, or just off the trailer?

I only warm up off the trailer to get some "heat sink" and warm up the rear end oil. I try to get to the lanes at 140, and launch at 160.

I DO RUN MINE UP TO 180 PUTTIN SOME RUN TIME ON THE CAR, THEN SHUT IT DOWN, POP THE CAP AND LET IT COOL WITH FANS BEFORE HEADN TO THE LANES. LIKE TO BE AROUND 140-160 IN THE BOX, USUALLY BY THE END OF THE RUN ITS UP TO 180 ON THE RETURN ROAD. I ACTUALLY PREFER A LIL HEAT IN THE MOTOR.

you gotta come hang with us this year you will get tired watching us. Lol

Last race at Pgh last season the crew changed 3 convertors during eliminations because the track kept tightening up.

Out of the trailer with a warmup, it takes them about an hour to get ready for a pass.

Warm car up off trailer. Car has a thermostat so all runs are made at 190 degrees.
Never have to cool the car down
I have an alternator so no charging for me
Keep up with tire pressure, fuel and weather.
Download data, go in motorhome look at data and watch tv :)

Wait to be called for next round.

I only take a small Task Force tool kit with me...don't even take a jack.
I am firm believer in NOT fixing things at the track.
I worked on cars that won class in the Daytona 24 hour and the 12 hours of Sebring two years in a row.
If I can't build a bracket car that won't go 10 passes on race day without working on it, I'll quit racing.
But thats just me.

unload get everything in place. jack up rear with stands and let it idle in gear and get it all moving. check for leaks ect but i do that before i load up also. drive up to the lanes and wait. leave around 120-140. in between i put on the charger box with h20 pump and fans running to cool it back down to around 100. i like warm oil and cold water lol

Just curious what everyone's race day maintenance/prep procedures are. Warm up, pre-race checks, etc... what's everyone's routine?

Just looking to see if there's somewhere I could improve.
Since switching to Alky.....I pull i from a run at 160-170 degrees.....turn the fans on for a couple of minutes while I hook up the charger.....drain the catch can...turn off the fans...get a drink and go to the fence and wait......

Unload the car. Measure ride hite, check fluids, charge the battery and before the first pass I "nut and bolt" the car front to back. Check the shocks the compressor wheel in the turbo to make sure it didnt try to eat anything. Being aircooled VW we tow to the lanes. Doesnt take very much time to make some heat with C16. Run it, Tow it back to pit and repeat.
